Straight out of the psych ward, Cora just wants her life to be normal. She doesn’t want to see souls or the reapers collecting them. The guy she’s loved from a distance for years moves away without saying goodbye. So yes, she’s nursing a serious heartbreak. It’s no wonder love is the last thing on her mind when Echo storms into her life.
The chemistry between them is mind-blowing.The connection defies logic. Even better, the souls leave her alone when he is around.
Too bad Echo is the poster boy for everything she hates in a guy—hot, beautiful, and cocky. He is also a soul reaper. A Grimnir.
The very beings she wants out of her life. Maybe normal is overrated because Cora wants it all. Answers. Love. A life.
WARNING: This book may be considered NA (new adult) because it contains some swearing, violence and make out scenes: Suitable for ages 17 and up (there is a clean version that you can purchase as well)
This is Cora’s story. NOT the continuation of Raine’s. But it continues with the timeline, so it is next in the grand scheme of things. In this story you find out that Cora wasn’t Cora, but was in a mental hospital. Since “that night”, she’s been seeing souls and people who glow. And not only does she see them, but they KNOW she sees them. And this freaks her out. She doesn’t have a clue what’s going on with Raine’s life, but gradually gets caught up on that score. In the process though, she meets up with a Grimnir named Echo. Echo mistakes her for the imposter Cora, whom he had intimate knowledge of. So imagine both of their surprises when he figures that bit of info out! *sigh* Echo… it’s hard to articulate myself in regards to the hero of this book. He’s fierce. He’s protective. He’s a rule-breaker. He is deliberate. And when he’s in something he’s ALL in. No doubts. No regrets. No remorse. I have been hearing all these other reviewers and fans of the series simply sigh and say “Echo” as if that explains everything. And after having read this book, I will simply say, it is insufficient. But I couldn’t think of anything that could do him justice. In this story, you get all the other characters from both Runes and Immortals. And I will say that Andris is one character that has grown on me. There was a line in this book that did it for me. Simply he says “She’s mine!”. And I will tell you, that one statement turned me into an Andris fan. I love this book. I will say that since I didn’t get the clean version, I was shocked when it got racy. But honestly, it isn’t that bad. More so than I would be comfortable with my 16-year-old niece reading. But not so much so that I’d label it naughty.
Ms. Walters has yet to fail. She keeps bringing in more wonderful characters that are full and vibrant all while showing growth and changes in the already existing characters. The two characters with the most change in all of them so far have been Eirik and Andris. Andris has always been a mutable character. Eirik seemed pretty static at first, but in both Immortals and Grimnirs, it’s obvious that he’s a very dynamic character that will be unpredictable. Would I suggest this book to anyone. OH SHOOT YEAH! I would guide the younger ladies to the clean version and all the older ones to this one.
