This book was purchased by me. All thoughts are 100% my own.
There are some beings in this world, long thought to be extinct. Some seek to protect them, others want control, but some . . . some are hell-bent on their destruction.
Audrey was taken from her father, hidden away from the world, and tortured for five years. She was rescued, but is she really safe, or is there someone else waiting to betray her? Can she trust those who saved her? Can she learn to accept who she really is?
Stone was on a routine mission to extract valuable information from a rival clan of paranormals. Instead, he and his team find something much more valuable: a scarred, damaged young woman who holds many secrets, and whose power is beyond anything they could ever have imagined. There is much more to Audrey than meets the eye and Stone is determined to protect her.
Audrey and Stone are about to find out it’s hard to know who to trust.
This is the story about Audrey and Stone. Audrey was a prisoner when Stone found her. He rescued her and introduced her to his clan and after years of nothing but pain and forced isolation, she found people to care for and that cared for her. Only nothing is as it seems anywhere. And a lot of secrets and lies come to light.
Audrey is scared. She was abused in all the ways a woman can be abused. And though, Ms. Vincenza is open about it, she doesn’t elaborate on it. Just lets us know that it occurred. Stone doesn’t find her scars scary, he actually loves those parts of her. He doesn’t understand why he feels that he HAS to protect her from anything and everything but he finds himself barely in control of his shifting abilities where she’s concerned. And though she knows she is different she has no idea what she even is yet.
It isn’t until they’re taken by the York clan does she figure it out. Now there has to be tough choices all the way around for not only Audrey and Stone, but for Nixie and Elijah as well.
Ms. Vincenza creates a very dark world. One that is full of danger and strife and in the middle of it all are the reborn of the elder races. Who is lying and who’s honest and how can you really know? These are all questions that this book forces you to ask. It’s a beautifully written tale. It has a HEA, in more ways than one. It leaves off with a lead into the next book. And actually that character is my favorite from this story. So I can’t wait until I read Healed. And she even has a prequel of this one called Stolen. Honestly, can’t wait to read it too! So the question is, would I recommend this book? Yes I would. Even though there are some sexual elements in this, it isn’t very graphic and detailed, so I would let my 16yo niece read it, but maybe not someone younger than her. This book is FREE right now on Amazon, so snag it.
