The Faerie Guardian (Creepy Hollow Book 1) – Rachel Morgan

I own a copy of this book. All thoughts are 100% my own.

blurb

Seventeen-year-old Violet Fairdale has one job: protect humans from dangerous magical creatures. It’s a job she’s good at—until her latest assignment, a cute human guy who can somehow see through her faerie glamour, follows her into the fae realm. Now she’s broken Guild law and risked her future as the top graduate of her class.

The last thing Vi wants to do is spend any more time with the guy who got her into this mess, but the Guild requires that she return Nate to his home and make him forget everything he’s discovered of the fae realm. Easy, right? Not when you factor in evil faeries, long-lost family members, and inconvenient feelings of the romantic kind. Vi is about to find herself tangled up in a dangerous plot—and it’ll take all her training to get out alive.

Enter a hidden world of magic, mystery, danger and romance in this bestselling YA fantasy.

We meet Violet, a Fae Guardian Trainee, on an assignment. She’s to protect this boy from dangerous creatures. And she succeeds, only there’s one problem. She broke the two biggest rules. 1.) You don’t bring a human into the fae realm and 2.) you never EVER reveal yourself to a human, named Nate. He can see her and when she tries to portal home, he comes with her because he grabbed her arm. He’s an interesting character because there’s so much more to him than you’d know. We also get to meet Ryn. Violet’s closest rival in her Fae Trainee class. They have a deep history with one another and it’s really muddled and not on good terms at the moment.

And without going into the story, there’s lots of twists and turns and heartache and dizzingly wonderful moments. Many moments when you were sure that the bad guys were going to get the best of Violet and her friends. And we know this story isn’t over. Everyone needs something from Vi. She has a special talent that very few know about and several try to exploit. But Vi has to figure out how to best utilize this talent and in the process finds out some hard truths.

I really can’t say much more. I know I really want to, because I’m about to dive straight into the second book The Faerie Prince. And I can’t wait to see what Ms. Morgan has in store for us in that book.

Ms. Morgan writes in such a way that you are deeply engrossed in her story from the first pages. Her characters are ones you can connect with even if you don’t really want a connection with them. And yes they do seem young, but they are only 17 in the story. That being said, everything is clean. There is smooching but nothing more so this is good for anyone for anything. So would I recommend this story? Oh yes I would! Most definitely. So if you like Fae Folk (and I’m not generally a fan!), and you’re a fan of YA fiction, this is a MUST read!

    • Thank you so much! My friend Rob does amazing graphic design work. I really enjoyed it. I read books 1-3 in the one solid book, but decided to review them separate. 😀 So look forward to books 2 and 3 both next week. I have book 4 that I’m reading right now. So look for that later this month. 😀
