A Sweet Upper Young Adult/New Adult Paranormal Romance Novella:
Inga Andersson is the envy of every girl in Asgard. On the surface she has it all — great friends, a job as Odin’s personal fight choreographer, and a happy ever after with her realm’s hottest assassin. But when evil invades Asgard, her perfect world comes crashing down. Someone is planning to kill off the gods, and Inga’s best friend Ull is first on their list. With the Norse apocalypse a nanosecond away, Inga has to decide how she’ll spend her final moments of freedom. Because from the moment this battle begins, Inga’s happily ever after will be nothing more than a memory.
Some things are worth fighting for.
TUR is an Elsker Saga novella. It is approximately 10,000 words long, and is a sweet paranormal romance.
ELSKER, book one in The Elsker Saga, releases May 29, 2014. Sign up for ST’s newsletter to get an e-mail when ELSKER goes live. http://eepurl.com/QwwLP
We meet Inga, who can train gods to be war machines, her battle plans are like ballet dances. But she doesn’t WANT to do those things, she WANTS to fight. She wants to be a warrior like Gunnar, her husband (#Gunnarisfunner), and like Ull, their best friend and roommate. Oh and a grandson of Odin’s. Odin has other plans for everyone though. With the threat of dark elves over-running Asgard, it’s every Asgardian to the ready. With Ull and Inga hating the appointments, they decide that they all need to take a vacation. So they come to Earth to go to college. But Inga really wants Ull to meet his mate Kristia that the seer Elsker predicted for him.
This is the prequel to Elsker. It’s not very long and it gives you a background on Ull and Gunnar and Inga. It’s really Inga’s story. Elsker is Ull’s.
S.T. Bende’s short prequel whets the appetite for what’s to come in Elsker. I can’t say there’s a whole bunch of world building here. But then you can’t with approximately 10k words. But there is the character development. We know that Ull is punctual, always on guard, doesn’t want to be the God of Doom and Gloom, and doesn’t have faith that there will be anyone for him. He’s actually kind of a negative Nancy. But I chalk that up to him being unhappy with how things are going overall. Gunnar can’t keep his hands off of Inga and is a man totally smitten. And Inga is just as smitten right back. One complaint though….S.T. Bende should have put Inga’s recipes in the book….just sayin….So would I recommend this book? Yesh, oh lawhz, yesh! It’s good for anyone late-teen on up. There’s some smooching and some stuff, but it’s not heavy nor graphic. Just more than a typical 14 or so should read.
Before finding domestic bliss in Suburbia, ST Bende lived in Manhattan Beach (became overly fond of Peet’s coffee) and Europe… where she became overly fond of the musical Cats. Her love of Scandinavian culture and a very patient Norwegian teacher inspired the Elsker Saga. She hopes her characters make you smile and that one day pastries will be considered a health food.
