The Horseman is unending,
his presence shan’t lessen.
If you break the curse,
you become the legend.
Washington Irving and Rip Van Winkle had no choice but to cover up the deadly truth behind Ichabod Crane’s disappearance. Centuries later, a Crane returns to Sleepy Hollow awakening macabre secrets once believed to be buried deep.
What if the monster that spawned the legend lived within you?
Now, Ireland Crane, reeling from a break-up and seeking a fresh start, must rely on the newly awakened Rip Van Winkle to discover the key to channeling the darkness swirling within her. Bodies are piling high and Ireland is the only one that can save Sleepy Hollow by embracing her own damning curse.
But is anyone truly safe when the Horseman rides?

We’re introduced to this story, by The Headless Horseman doing what he does best….lopping off heads. Only thing is, this is modern times and Sleepy Hollow has since been called Tarrytown. The cops instantly go to Ireland Crane’s house since she’s new in town and shares the same last name as the unfortunate Ichabod. This is a story of Ireland Crane and the Ichabod Crane. It features a host of secondary characters, one of which is Rip van Winkle.
I can’t tell much about the story, only I will tell you that it isn’t as I thought it would be and it was pleasantly refreshing. Ireland is a sassy, snarky mess and I loved her character dearly. Rip is seen in both points of view and he’s hilarious in both but for completely different reasons. Ichabod Crane is a sweetly, tragic character in this story. I will say that there are characters I can’t wait to see again, an ending I’m not sure how is going to happen over the course of the next books.
Ms. Rourke has a way of creating characters and putting them in settings that are most unusual. She makes her protagonist someone you should despise and her antagonist someone you love. All while muddying up it all up. Which is a good thing in this case. In most cases, I’d say this is very bad and clarity should be striven for. In this case, it is as it is intended to be. Ms. Rourke makes snarky hilarious. Ireland CRACKED me up. So much so I read passages to my husband because I would laugh until I’d snort. So, would I recommend this book. You bet that last dollar in your pocket I would.
