blurb

Demons continues the Runes series by USA Today bestselling author Ednah Walters. What happened to Eirik after he left his friends on Earth and went to Hel?

Eirik Baldurson—son of Baldur, God of Light—failed living as a Mortal. He lost the girl of his dreams and nearly got his friends killed. Now, he’s gone to the underworld to meet the mother he’s never known. Torn between his duty to her and the man he used to be, Eirik struggles to find himself, until a witch appears in his world. Feisty and stubborn, she is a reminder of everything good he left behind.

Celestia Devereaux proudly attends a charter high school for “gifted” teenagers who embrace magic. Witches. However, she keeps a terrible secret—a prediction that she would one day be responsible for massive destruction and death. Though Celestia uses her clairvoyant abilities to help people, she worries that it is just a matter of time before she goes over to the dark side.

Her world changes when she unexpectedly astral projects to a place she didn’t believe existed and meets a tortured man who needs her help. Will helping him cause her fears to come true, or will he sacrifice everything to save her?

***I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are 100% my own.***

We met Eirik in Runes. He was Raines best friend since forever. He fell in love with Cora and as we know from those books, he’s Hel and Baldur’s son, and he had to go to Hel’s Hall in order to get to know his mother. That’s where this story starts. But before I continue……

STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING!!!!

Erase EVERYTHING you think you know about Eirik, because it’s DEAD wrong. I loved his character in Raine’s stories. I always felt that there was so much more to the chex-mix haired son of a god. And I couldn’t have been MORE right. But it’s even more than I imagined. I will have to say that out of this universe, so far he’s edged out Echo, and I NEVER thought that was even remotely possible, but I do believe it very well has happened.

I could write a HUGE novel of a review just on his character, but what good is a romance novel without the love interest. In steps Celestia Devereaux. She’s sassy. She’s snarky. And she’s loud and proud about her witchy-ness. (I can’t wait for her and Raine to meet! Oh holy smokes!) And she has the biggest heart of anyone. All she wants to do is prove her Mom wrong. And she mistakenly showed up in Hel’s Hall, right in Eirik’s room. And the sparks between these two! They have this chemistry. It’s hard to explain. They weren’t insta-anything. They didn’t dislike one another. But they weren’t exactly friendly either. But they did grow on one another and it got to where they’d do anything to protect the other. And there’s a twist I COMPLETELY didn’t see and it BOWLED me over when I read it and it just made everything that much more awesome! And the end of this book…GAH! I am so sad that I read this as an ARC because that means I have to wait even longer before I can read the next book. Oh My GOSH!

Ms. Walters knocks it out of the ballpark. I can see why she’s on the panel for building the perfect boyfriend at UtopYA next year. In this series alone, you have so many lovable characters. There’s Torin and Echo and Andris and Blaine and Rhys and Dev and Raine and Cora and Ingrid and Svana and Fema and not to forget Onyx. And she’s said that this book actually starts in the middle of that whole series, so I’ll have to go back and RE-read that whole series and put this book right smack dab in there. Oh holy cow! JUST sayin’!!! So, as you can imagine, YESSSSSSSS!!!!!! READ THIS BOOK!!!! If you’re a fan of YA Romance with some Norse mythology and witches and …. yeah, you’ll have to read it to figure this newer element out. Anyways, GET IT! DEVOUR IT! and FANGIRL over it! You won’t regret it…well, unless you like your stories completed before you start reading them. Then wait until the last book is written THEN do what I typed above!
