Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.
Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.
Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.
But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.
We meet Ivy in New Orleans. She works for a secret order and protects humanity against those that they don’t wish to believe were real. She meet Ren, a transfer from another branch of the secret order. Only, he’s not all she thinks that he is, and she’s not all that she believed either. And their chemistry together is like fireworks on the fourth of July. And boy howdy does it get warm under the collar!
I liked Ivy. I liked Ren. I REALLY LOVED Tink! Just sayin’. Honestly, I’m not sure exactly what to say. If I gush about it as I want to, I’ll give away too many of the twists and turns of this story. If I don’t gush about it, you’ll not really understand what’s so great. So, what a conundrum I’ve found myself in. Just know this is truly an amazing book. TRULY. I am sad that the next book isn’t out yet. I wished it were and it’s set to be immediately on my TBR list when it does.
Ms. Armentrout is a new to me author. So many have recommended her, and I can completely understand why. She’s an amazing author. This story isn’t the YA I thought it was. It’s more NA, but don’t let that sway you. The nookie is there, but it isn’t graphic. GAH! Ms. Armentrout has created such a vibrant world that it’s hard for me to let it go so I can move on to the next book on my schedule. So, would I recommend this book? YES! But if you need the whole series in order to start, then you must wait. However, if not, I suggest you get it right NOW!
