She’s prim and proper. He’s leather and lawless. It will never work between them.
It’s a lie they almost believe.
We met Bear in King. He was one of King’s best friends along with Preppy. Never have three boys been so different from one another, but they all were closer than brothers. And Bear proved that when he walked away from the motorcycle club that he grew up for King and Preppy. And this is his story. Thia met Bear when she was 10. He made her a promise that if she ever needed him, he’d be there for her. He never thought she’d ever take him up on that promise, until the day she showed up. Thia hasn’t had an easy life, but that evening after she got off from work, she never expected her life to be so completely altered.
These two characters are broken by the things in their pasts. I really like how protective Bear is, and how much he is willing to honor the promise given to a ten year old girl, seven years before. I like how Thia sees through his bs and doesn’t really let him get away with it. She’s tough as nails and takes no guff off anyone, especially Bear.
I cannot really say much. This book is good. My heart was broken for Bear after reading Tyrant. My heart still breaks for him. He’s having to silently deal with something that shouldn’t have ever happened. And Thia is the swift kick in his pants that he needed. So would I recommend this book. I would say so, but you need to read King and Tyrant first. The events in those stories deeply impact this one.
