Loving Doctor Vincent (The Good Doctor Trilogy Book 3) – Renea Mason

loving-dr-vincent-renea-mason

blurb

The final installment of the Good Doctor Trilogy.

After becoming entwined the Society’s web of deceit, Elaine Watkins has to decide who she can trust.

Xavier’s tempting declarations of marriage are over shadowed by the ominous warnings of a dead man, leaving her to ponder if there can ever be a happily-ever-after for Xavier, Marco, or Sebastian? For her?

Finding herself in Victoria’s crosshairs, Elaine begins to see the bigger picture unfold and claims her role in the Society’s diabolical play—acknowledging that since coincidences are rarely the work of fate, it’s time to create a little chaos of her own.

Blog Images

This is the final book in The Good Doctor Series. Things are pretty shaky in Elaine’s life. When she thought she was a mere observer/participant by her own choice, she finds out that The Society’s fingers are far deeper into her past than anyone could have suspected. My only complaint in this entire trilogy is in this book. I really had a LOT of “OH no he didn’t!” moments involving Xavier Vincent. If I had to pick a character I liked least (and don’t think that I dislike any of them, I LOVE them all) it would be his character in THIS story. Otherwise, it’s still amazing, and it’s still OH CRAPBAWLS HAWT up in hur!

THE WRITING

Ms. Mason writes a very compelling love story. It’s extremely unique and interesting, to say the least. I will tell you also, flat out, under no certain terms, if you can’t stand the heat, do NOT go into Ms. Mason’ kitchen because…yeah, let’s just say, she brings it and holds NOTHING back…and by nothing – I mean N.O.T.H.I.N.G. So consider that your fair warning. Now if you like your love stories set on fire (at the level of being immersed in the sun) then PLEASE get this book. Now, I know, I know…I’ve not READ the book, I don’t know how immersive the book is. I CAN tell you that if you are able, GET the audiobook. I…yeah…just get the audiobook, believe me, you nor your significant other will complain…just sayin’.

ABOUT THE NARRATORS VOCAL PERFORMERS

Erin deWard – This is the first time I’ve ever listened to her. Oh holy cow. She doesn’t read this book, she breathes life into the character and I swear as I think of Elaine, it’s Ms. deWard’s voice I hear. She did an amazing job at telling the tell. I also really liked the skill which she and Mr. Levine played out the scenes in this dual interactive narration.

Noah Michael Levine – this man has an amazing skill at accents and changing his voice to become different characters is really and truly awesome. I’m not very experienced in the audiobook world but so far, I’ve yet to run across another narrator with such talent.

The two of them together – yeah, listening to this book made me blush really bad and anyone that knows me finds it hard to believe. BUT listening to them during the intimate moments of the story made me feel like I was peeking into someone’s room and giving a listen. It was REALLY impressive…we’ll just say.

So, if you couldn’t guess it, I’d say get this book…in audio…but be PREPARED for some seriously scorching stuff. Definitely for the 18 and over crowd.

Surviving Doctor Vincent (The Good Doctor Trilogy) – Renea Mason

surviving-dr-vincent-renea-mason

blurb

The sequel to Curing Doctor Vincent.

Elaine Watkins knew there would be challenges loving the great Dr. Xavier Vincent–medical icon, enigmatic genius, and broken man–but when she finds herself the focus of the Society, a group of sociopaths who manipulate people for pleasure and sport, finding someone she can trust becomes her biggest test.

After being forced into hiding with Sebastian, Xavier’s long-time friend, and reunited with Marco, Dr. Vincent’s protégé, Elaine struggles with the complex relationship that develops between her and the three men.

When the Society causes Elaine to question everything she’s ever known, her love for Dr. Vincent may be the only thing to save her.

This is the second book in the series, and it continues pretty much where Tasting Paris left off. Only this time, there’s a lot more involved than just Elaine’s attraction to Xavier. Unraveling before them is this secret world that they weren’t even aware that they were hip deep in. Again…HOT stuff. And again…Amazing writing and acting. (I REALLY wish I could talk more about this, GAH! But I wouldn’t want to ruin it for you, dear reader.)

Tasting Paris (The Good Doctor Trilogy Novella 1.5) – Renea Mason

blurb

When Elaine complains she missed enjoying the touristy aspects of Paris during her infamous visit, Xavier, Marco and Sebastian quench her curiosity, by bringing Paris’ finer points of interest to the doctor’s New York penthouse.

This is a small interlude that happens between Curing Doctor Vincent and Surviving Doctor Vincent. It’s PURE steam…well pure SMOKIN’ HAWTNESS. The talents of Ms. Mason, Ms. deWard, and Mr. Levine do not flag in this short. Oh my gosh! Just…OH MY GOSH!

Curing Doctor Vincent (The Good Doctor Trilogy -Renea Mason

curing-dr-vincent-renea-mason

blurb

Elaine Watkins, Public Relations Advisor, is surprised when she receives a summons from the very attractive and enigmatic Dr. Xavier Vincent. She worships the talented physician and company icon responsible for developing the cure that saved her sister’s life and isn’t immune to his charm. Even though puzzled by his request, she is excited and eager to get started on his latest project.

But Dr. Vincent has other ideas. Instead of discussing cures, drugs and marketing strategies, he asks Elaine to join him in Paris to indulge his unique sexual appetites.

Torn between gratitude for saving her sister, her attraction for the powerful man and compromising her pre-conceived notions of sexuality, she must decide if it’s easier to feed his desires or walk away. Until she devises a plan of her own.

“Make no mistake, Elaine, I am a king. Kings command and conquer. They are brutal and uncompromising. You don’t want a king. Face it, you came here expecting a saint.” – Dr. Xavier Vincent

I listened to this audiobook, completely unaware of what I was getting myself into. I knew this was erotica. I also knew that it won an audiobook award for best audio. The rest I really wasn’t aware was going to happen, and I won’t spoil it all and put all that in here. You’ll just have to experience to find out. Yeah…I can’t really say ANYTHING about what’s in it because you NEED to be as shocked as I was. I will tell you that I completely get WHY it won an award. Because HOLY SMOKIN’ COWS are Erin de Ward and Noah Michael Levine hot together. I swear my earbuds were going to catch fire a few times.

Indelible: Beneath His Ink (Teal and Trent Book 2) – Inger Iversen

indelible-audiobook-final-1

blurb

Former Marine, Trent Reed, is in desperate need of a Hail Mary.
With each failed attempt to convince his woman to pack up and move to Kentucky, his past finds some new way to rear its ugly head. But when his pregnant ex plows into his life, all hell breaks loose—unearthing parts of his past he wished would stay buried.

Two weeks of vacation with her man? Hell yeah, that is exactly what Teal Lofton’s libido needs. And after surviving seven months apart, their reunion doesn’t disappoint. What she didn’t account for was an unfortunate encounter with people from Trent’s past. A racist, a druggie, and a double-barreled shotgun culminate into a vacation that will alter the course of her life forever.

Blog Images

We met Teal and Trent all the way back in Incarcerated. She was Katie’s best friend, and he was Logan’s. Neither one of them had the time nor inclination to coddle someone else. But as we found out in Inevitable, still waters ran deep, and there was an explosion when these two came into contact with one another. And this book picks up a few months after that one left off. Trent was back in Kentucky and Teal still in Vermont. But he managed to get her a flight to him, and though she had her reservations, she went to him.

A lot happens in this book. All I can say is, in reading this book, I really appreciate just how LUCKY Katie was in Incarcerated. But I digress and need to move on to this book. I liked Teal from book 1. She was sassy and truly didn’t take crap from anyone. Trent, though I felt for him, took a little more time to warm up to. I really appreciated getting his story in this one. It really made him such a deep and truly sympathetic character.

Michael Pauley, the narrator, really does a fantastic job of bringing the emotion into this story. His inflections and involvement in the story really show themselves well. I WOULD have had an issue with his idea of a Kentucky accent (being from Kentucky and all…), but I had heard him in an interview admit that it wasn’t a genuine Kentucky accent at all, but his interpretation of how TRENT sounded. And this being said I cannot fault him there. I’m a Kentucky girl. I have spent almost my whole life here, BUT I’ve lived in enough places that it’s altered my accent and I don’t sound like I’m from here either.

Inger Iversen’s story of love in spite of adversity, looking past the facade, and the connection of two people is a beautiful tale. And yes, there are many situations in this story that will make you squirm with unease, don’t let that stop you. I’ve always been told that it’s THOSE situations you should expose yourself to because those are the ones that grow you as a person. So the great question of the day is would I recommend this story to people? I would. I think that Trent and Teal’s story should be spread and enjoyed and appreciated.

Friends Without Benefits (Knitting in the City Book 2) – Penny Reid

friends wo benefits penny reid

blurb

Friends Without Benefits can be read as a standalone, is a full length 120k word novel, and is book #2 in the Knitting in the City Series.
There are three things you need to know about Elizabeth Finney: 1) She suffers from severe sarcastic syndrome, especially when she’s unnerved, 2) No one unnerves her like Nico Manganiello, and 3) She knows how to knit.

Elizabeth Finney is almost always right about everything: the musical merits of boy bands are undervalued by society, “benefits” with human Ken dolls are better without friendship, and the sun has set on her once-in-a-lifetime chance for true love. But when Elizabeth’s plans for benefits without friendship are disarmed by the irritatingly charismatic and chauvinistic Nico Manganiello- her former nemesis- she finds herself struggling to maintain the electric fence around her heart while avoiding electrocution or, worse, falling in love.

Blog Images

Elizabeth didn’t really do relationships. She wanted to, but she just couldn’t bring herself to do it. She was hurt deeply when she was younger, and that turned her from getting too involved. Nico was her childhood boyfriend’s best friend and her greatest antagonist. Only now, he’s grown and he’s devastatingly handsome and he’s in the spotlight as a popular comedian.

Nico is intense. I listened to this on audiobook and there were times I caught myself holding my breath right alongside Elizabeth. She is a high-strung, prank-loving woman who just needs to let her hair down and allow someone else to drive this train. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t feeling Nico for a while. He was too much and didn’t feel genuine. Then we peeled back his layers and bit by bit he wriggled his way into my heart. By the time we get to their past, from his POV, I was full in love with this character, and I wanted to reach into the book and force Elizabeth to read that chapter as well. Because if she had JUST known that from FOREVER ago, her life would have been so radically different.

Five years ago, we’d been together and on fire, but the flames burned us both. Now she’s back in my life and is all my wildest fantasies in the flesh.

I want her. The desire is too powerful to argue against, but I’m not interested in what we had. This is an arrangement about pleasure and finding out who we are behind closed doors. There won’t be talk of love or any sweet nothings whispered by either of us.

This time, I’ll control the heat between us and make sure neither of our hearts get too close to the flames.

MY THOUGHTS

Kyle is mentioned briefly in prior books. He’s Payton’s brother and he’s a lawyer who just moved back to Chicago from New York. There’s a sort of mystery to him, from those past books, so I wasn’t too entirely sure what I was going to end up with here.

Oh my Gawd! So far out of all of The Blindfold Series books, Three Hard Lessons is HANDS DOWN my favourite. Seriously. Like HOLY COW THAT’S HAWT serious. I’m going to put Three Sweet Nothings up there next to it. Not in the #1 spot, no, but it’s a closer second. This book is deliciously naughty. The chemistry between Kyle and Ruby is electric and instant. They’re old flames, so of course they still a torch for each other…at least in their pants.

We see Dom and Payton, of course, we also see more Noemi and Joseph. Boy do we see more of them, and yeowza! S’all I’m sayin, mmkay? Now let’s get down to the nitty gritty. This book is very well written and it’s very engaging. I read it all in abour 4ish hours. But I read quickly. This book is scorching hot. As in, the scenes in this will melt pig iron. I really wish I could elaborate, but that would be neither decent of me, nor would it be nice because it would give spoilers away.

Ms. Sloane writes some of the best erotica-ish books I’ve read. I’m hard pressed to call them erotica because the sex, though prominent, ISN’T the focal point of the novel. It’s an amazingly fun bonus, but not the point. But if most erotica were written like this…well, let’s just say that the divorce rate would be much smaller. Hard to fight when your…ahem! Anyway! Back to the review… Ms. Sloane writes on heckuva story and if you don’t mind some frisky business…very detailed, explicit, somewhat on the fringe (of typical romance novels because OMG! There’s girl play, and 😉 other stuff…) play, then I BEG you to get into this series. I can PROMISE you that you will NOT regret it. 😀  OH! And for you audiobook lovers out there, she’s recently announced that Book 1 of the series Three Simple Rules will be coming out in audiobook soon. So yeah…get your listening apparatuses charged up, your headphones/earbuds plugged in, and prepare for the audio onslaught that is Logan and Evie. 😀 Don’t listen to this in public. I don’t care how the voice actors are in it. Yeah…it’ll be plum embarrassing…

ANYWAY! T-out!
